The problems with fitness

The first sign of poor fitness is usually low energy; you are unable to do all the things you want or used to be able to do. Maybe you’re frustrated that you can’t keep up with friends or family, or you might be struggling with the rigours of your working life. There are so many mixed messages about fitness that you might feel confused about what to do or frustrated at the one-size-fits-all approach to you usually hear from a fitness trainer. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start, or what the right thing to do is to get results. Above all, you just don’t have the time to work it all out.

How to optimise your Fitness

Nutrition

What you eat will have a profound impact on your fitness. Eating a diet that is personal to you is so important, not just for fitness but for sleep, mental health, energy, body composition and digestion. Eating a diet based on your unique DNA will enable you to optimise your health, fitness and wellbeing, and maximise the time you invest in your fitness.

Hormones, vitamins and minerals

Recovery

Often, it’s not a lack of exercise or movement that hinders someone’s fitness, it’s a lack of recovery. The gains (physiological adaptations) we get from exercise come in the recovery periods, aided by hydration, nutrition and sleep. It’s hard to pick up on the signals the body sends us sometimes, and we’ve become good at ignoring them! The Oura ring tracks your sleep and activity data and gives you a recovery score, so you can pace yourself.

Tracking

Having an intelligent device that monitors your activity and inactivity levels means you can track your movement and offset that data against your sleep scores. We use a device called the Oura ring for activity and sleep monitoring, and recovery tracking.

Make It Personal

The final thing is make it personal. Forget about outdated one-size-fits-all approaches, or what’s worked for your colleague at work – we all respond differently and have different sensitivities. DNA testing will highlight exactly the right type of exercise that you respond to based on your unique genes, so you don’t waste time. Our programs focus on creating a tailored fitness plan that’s all about you, and work within the time you have available for fitness.
