A lot of people live quite a fast-paced life with a lot of stress, not a lot of downtime, and not a lot of recovery. And whether they admit it to themselves or not, they are concerned about what sort of price they might be paying later on.
Blue zones are places that have the highest proportion of centenarians in the world. They have more people who are living to be 100 years old than anywhere else in the world. And not only that they are living to be 100 but they are still mobile, they are still vital and energetic and very happy with life.
What our bodies are designed to do is move on a daily basis.
Unhappy people are more inclined toward serious health conditions like cardiovascular disease.
Invest in your health.
Grow your own vegetables. And if you can’t, then make sure you’re eating organic, locally-sourced vegetables.
Do lots of daily life movements. By this, we don’t mean structured exercise but just moving your body a lot in the course of a day.
Have strong social connections.
Make sure to get enough sleep.
Clean up your diet and manage your blood sugar levels.
Manage your stress and avoid inflammation.
“Health, a little bit like a bank account – you’re either paying in or you’re withdrawing. And eventually, there’s going to come a time when you’ve got to reconcile that.”
“Stress kills lots of people. Stress causes lots of serious health conditions. Stress makes life unhappy. And when we’re unhappy, we know that can affect our health.”
