Fitness is technically defined as muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and body composition. However, at Bodyshot we think fitness is holistic: it’s a key component for optimising your mind, body and wellbeing.
We also believe that you need to be fit for the rigours of modern life. Having good holistic fitness will give you the energy you need to optimise your mind, body and wellbeing, and live a full and rewarding life.
The first sign of poor fitness is usually a lack of energy; you are unable to do all the things you want, or used to be able to do. Maybe you’re frustrated that you can’t keep up with friends or family, or you might be struggling with the rigours of your working life. There are so many mixed messages about fitness that you might feel confused about what to do or frustrated at the one-size-fits-all approach to fitness. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start, or what the right thing to do is to get results. Above all, you just don’t have the time to work it all out.
The first thing is nutrition. What you eat will have a profound impact on your fitness. Eating a diet that is personal to you is so important, not just for fitness but for sleep, mental health, energy, body composition and digestion. Eating a diet based on your unique DNA will enable you to optimise your health, fitness and wellbeing, and maximise the time you invest in your fitness.
The second thing relates to hormones, vitamins and minerals. Using a simple, painless home blood kit, we test for 4 markers including vitamin D3, HbA1c (diabetes), Lipids and CRP. We can quickly address these issues by testing to see if levels are out of range and supplementing where required.
The third thing is recovery. Often, it’s not a lack of exercise or movement that hinders someone’s fitness, it’s a lack of recovery. The gains (physiological adaptations) we get from exercise come in the recovery periods, aided by hydration, nutrition and sleep. It’s hard to pick up on the signals the body sends us sometimes, and we’ve become good at ignoring them! The Oura ring tracks your sleep and activity data and gives you a recovery score, so you can pace yourself.
The fourth thing is tracking. Having an intelligent device that monitors your activity and inactivity levels means you can track your movement, and offset that data against your sleep scores. We use a device called the Oura ring for activity and sleep monitoring, and recovery tracking.
The final thing is make it personal. Forget about outdated one-size-fits-all approaches, or what’s worked for your colleague at work – we all respond differently and have different sensitivities. DNA testing will highlight exactly the right type of exercise that you respond to based on your unique genes, so you don’t waste time. Our programs focus on creating a tailored fitness plan that’s all about you, and work within the time you have available for fitness.
We have brought together everything you need to optimise your fitness, in one package. The Fitness Package includes the DNA test for diet and fitness combined with a non-invasive blood test panel for 4 key markers including vitamin D3, HbA1c (diabetes), Lipids and CRP. The Oura ring for activity tracking and recovery is also included.
Once we’ve received the results of your DNA and blood test, we arrange a suitable time for the consultation which takes place online and lasts approximately 60 minutes. In the consultation, we analyse your results, explain what everything means and draw up a personalised action plan.
Our Fitness Package includes an eBook that talks you through the Fitness Signal and gives you loads of tips, information and a resource you can keep coming back to. The eBook is a concise summary of everything we’ve learned from the hundreds of clients we’ve helped to optimise their fitness.
